RPAC allows REALTORS® to participate in the political process through voluntary, nonpartisan contributions to support state, local, and federal candidates and issue initiatives affecting real estate.
Why Support RPAC? RPAC is Your shield for protecting the Real Estate Profession!
The only way to constructively change government is by exercising your rights as a citizen – voicing your opinions and supporting those candidates in favor of the free enterprise system and protecting your industry from increased restriction on operation and income.
RPAC has made significant contributions to improve the Real Estate profession:
Issues that passed locally:
- Passed the half cent sales tax for schools in St. Lucie County in 2005.
- Approved the West Virginia Corridor to improve traffic in St. Lucie County.
Candidates that RPAC helped elect:
- Defeated a proposed transfer tax that would have added $756.00 to the cost of the average home in Florida. Had the bill passed 13,160 Floridians would have been priced out of the market of the American Dream.
- Defeated a Doc Stamp increase of 30 cents per$100, which saved nearly $200 million in new tax revenues. This would have added $300 to the closing costs of a $100,000 home.
- Passed Chapter 475 Modernization. For the first time in 76 years, a comprehensive change in Chapter 475, the section in Florida’s statutes that regulates how real estate professionals do business was passed. These sweeping changes allow Realtors® to compete in the marketplace.
What about Now?
- Passing association health plans for affordable health insurance for Realtors®.
- Supporting candidates who favor the Realtor® agenda.
- Member issue education.
- Training for the Candidate Screening Committee.
Who Can Contribute? The Realtors Association of St. Lucie, Inc. accepts RPAC contributions from members, affiliate members, the executive and administrative personnel of the National Association of Realtors (NAR), state and local associations, and the families of any of them.
